What is "Marque and Reprisal?"

Article 1, Section 8, Clause 11 of the United States Constitution authorizes Congress to issue letters of marque and reprisal, legal permission for a privateer to conduct legal piracy. Well, that's where the name of my boat came from, and through a distinct lack of imagination, I named this site after my boat.

When friends learn that I am an avid sailor, they often say how they would love to learn sailing but don't know where to start, or that it is too expensive. As with most things these days, most of the information you need is available on Youtube, so I started looking for videos that my crew and friends could learn from. Eventually, sharing my Google Sheet with links became clunky, and the idea of having a site that didn't require a login or permissions seemed like a better idea.

 

The site is pretty basic for now, but I'll keep building it up with more features to assist you in your sailing adventures.
